Snowy Striding Edge!

Back in December 2020 we set out to summit Helvellyn Via Striding Edge! We were very fortunate to get such surreal surroundings due to the cold wintery conditions in The Lake District at the time, making for one of our most memorable hikes to date.
With Helvellyn being the third highest peak in England, its not an easy venture - even in the best of conditions. The thick snow and ice really did provide an extra challenge but is not something to be put off by when planning a hike, as the views are definitely worth the braving the cold!
As always, Safety First! I would not suggest ever hiking in these conditions without the appropriate kit and experience. Crampons and a good pair of boots are a MUST! Along with wearing appropriate layers to protect you from the elements, whatever they might throw at you.
Id also suggest carrying your water in an insulated container such as a thermal flask to prevent it freezing solid like mine did - lesson learned!
