Helvellyn Horseshoe with AdventureCode!

On Sunday the 25th April we set out on an adventure which was led by Tom who runs @adventurecode_uk. We ascended Helvellyn from over by Thirlmere, instead of the usual Striding Edge which was a welcome change! We set off from Swirls Car Park around 9:20am and began our journey up the very steep 2 mile trail.

This route was not very technical however it was difficult - possibly more so than striding edge as it was very cardio heavy! However it offered some great views of Thirlmere, with the sun beating down through the completely clear skies!

As we approached the summit - we participated in a guided group meditation led by @namasdave108. An incredible experience I will never forget. So peaceful and the energy was spot on! The mantra was beautiful and really set the mood for the day! We then stopped for a lunch with a lovely view and got to know everyone a little better with people frequently mentioning how nice it was to be socialising after all the lockdown restrictions over

the past year or so - to which we couldn't agree more!

With everyone nicely fuelled up from their lunch, we made the final ten minute push to the peak, which we all had expected to be much busier than it was - not that that's a bad thing though! So peaceful and calm!

We left the peak heading South / South West down towards Thirlmere and then walked through some woodland adjacent to the main road heading North back towards Swirls Car Park.

Upon arriving back at the car park we all sat down in the lovely sunshine and had a refreshing drink and discussed our favourite parts of the day! Ours was definitely the meditation - I cant stress enough how magic it really was!

We all then got about the rest of our day. With some people going for food in Windemere and others heading home, we decided to take on another peak!

Unfortunately Harvie had work the following morning so we couldn't do anything to crazy due to time - so we opted to go for a run up the lovely

Loughrigg Fell which is situated just South West

of Rydal Water.

We popped into Rydal Caves on the way up and had a little explore around before continuing our way up to the summit of Loughrigg Fell. We even spotted a wild deer on the way up which was actually the first time I have seen one in the flesh. Which was a real treat!

With it only taking us 15 minutes to descend Loughrigg fell and return to the car, we decided it would be rude to break our tradition of a Windemere pitstop for quick dip as we passed it on our way home and it just looked way too inviting to say no!

What a day!
